FOREST GROVE – After only tallying seven shots on the match, the Pacific women's soccer team couldn't finish their opportunities, ending in a 0-0 double overtime draw with Whitworth on a brisk Saturday evening in Northwest Conference action at Lincoln Park Stadium.

"The unfortunate thing is to walk away from the game without a win," said head coach Morgan Joseph. "But we are very proud of their performance today. We're back on track and hope to continue in the right direction."

In the first period, the Boxers shot one time, coming from freshmen standout Kara Lankey (Fr., La Canada, Calif.). After allowing the Pirates (6-6-4, 3-5-4 NWC) to shoot four times, Lankey tried to spark the Boxer offense in the 40th minute, but the shot was save by Pirate goalkeeper, Andrea Stump.

Ashley Park-Hunt (Fr., Mililani, Hawaii) came out in the second period to produce offense. She attempted in the 49th minute, but was saved by Stump. Ashley Asuncion (So., Honolulu, Hawaii) had the same experience in the 64th minute when Stump came up with another save on her shot. The Boxers tried one last time in regulation when Chandler Bowen (Jr., Silverdale, Wash.) took a chance, but the ball was high over the goal.

"Ashley Asuncion was a standout player tonight," said associate head coach Dane Joseph. "Her intelligence on and off the ball has always mae her one of the best, but she kicked into fourth gear tonight and separated herself from the rest."

The Boxers held the Pirates to one shots in the overtime periods while the Boxers picked up three. In the 95th minute, Lankey made an attempt, but Stump was there again for the save. Lankey shot again in the 97th minute but was high. In the overtime period, Asuncion took the Boxers' only attempt, shooting wide of the goal.

Kayla Davidson (Sr., Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) played all 110 minutes between the pipes, coming up with five saves, saving four in the second period. She maintains a 6-4-3 record. Stump tallied four saves for the Pirates and owns a 6-5-4 record. The Pirates outshot the Boxers 11-7. Lankey led the Boxers with three shots while Asuncion came up with two.

"It was great to get Rachel Anderson and Dani McMurray back from injury," said Morgan Joseph. "They had great games and it is much needed as we head into the final quarter of the season."

The Boxers (7-5-3, 4-5-2 NWC) will take a break from play tomorrow and come back on Sunday to play Whitman. The match will start at noon. Live stats and video will be available at goboxers.com.
