FOREST GROVE – McKenna Davidson (So., Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) and Kara Lankey (Fr., La Canada, Calif.) shared offensive duties, scoring two goals each and leading the Pacific women's soccer team to a 4-0 shutout over Whitman College in Northwest Conference action on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Park Stadium.

"It was a slow and lethargic start for us," said head coach Morgan Joseph. "But they picked themselves up and put away four fantastic goals at home with a shutout. The beautiful thing about Kara and McKenna is that neither of them are in the top-five for shots taken, but both are in the top-five for points; it goes to show how efficient they are."

After a slow moving first half, the Boxers took a 1-0 lead in the 47th minute when Lucy Almao (Fr., Orange County, Calif.) crossed to Davidson, who shot from inside the 18-yard box, to the back of the net, past Whitman goalkeeper Emily Davis. Davidson scored her second goal of the match just three minutes later after a Whitman foul in the box. Davidson took the penalty kick between the pipes and to the back of the net. Her two goals marked her eighth and ninth goals on the season.

The Boxers' offense was sparked three minutes later. Kamryn Plechot (Jr., La Palma, Calif.) received the ball on a throw in and crossed across the goal to Lankey. Lankey shot to the goal but hit the post. The ball rebounded back into her feet and she shot to the back of the net to increase the Boxer lead to 3-0. In the 71st minute, Lankey scored the Boxers' fourth goal of the match. Ashley Park-Hunt (Fr., Mililani, Hawaii) crossed to Lankey, who shot from 25 yards out between the pipes.

"The midfield engine was driven by Chandler and Lucy," said associate head coach Dane Joseph. "Together with a very sturdy backline, they set us up for the success in the second half. They did the right things on and off the ball."

The Missionaries (8-9-0, 4-9-0 NWC) tallied 10 shots, but could not get past Boxer keeper Kayla Davidson (Sr., Kailua-Kona, Hawaii). Davidson collected four saves; all in the second half, including a big save in the last three minutes of the match. Davidson recorded the win and the shutout, boosting her record between the pipes to 7-4-2. The shutout marked her fourth on the season.

"What a great team effort to get together and rally for another one," said Dane Joseph. "Their second half exemplified what it means to be a 'team'."

With the victory, the Boxers improve to 8-5-3 on the season and 5-5-2 in the Northwest Conference. Next weekend, the Boxers will travel to Pacific Lutheran on Saturday and George Fox on Sunday. Both matches will start at noon.
