Penalty Kick Not Enough To Slide Past Linfield

Ian Farley's (Jr., Spokane, Wash.) made penalty kick wasn't enough for the Pacific men's soccer team to come back in the second half of a 3-1 loss to Linfield in Northwest Conference action on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Park Stadium.

The Boxers' had many chances in the first half, including a
Quintin Love (So., Kailua, Hawaii) breakaway, but was caught up by defenders. He crossed to
Nick Rudella (Sr., Sammamish, Wash.), who then shot, but was saved by Wildcat goalkeeper Jorge Rodriguez. The Boxers had another chance in the 13
th minute when
Jorge Mandujano (Sr., Forest Grove, Ore.) took a shot, but it the crossbar straight on and a Linfield defender cleared the ball.

Linfield (5-4-1, 2-3-1 NWC) scored their first goal of the game in the 26
th minute. After a Pacific foul in the box, Jake Baker was ruled a penalty kick and took the ball to the back of the net past Boxer goalkeeper
Zach Cohen (Sr., Grafton, Calif.).

The Boxers took five shots the rest of the first period, but could not come up with a goal to tie the match.

Linfield would extend their lead in the 64
th minute when Eric Conte crossed to Ivan Colin who finished inside the box past Cohen. In the 77
th minute, Linfield would go up 3-0 off a goal from Brian DeGrandmont. Domenico Del Prete crossed to DeGrandmont inside the box and finished.

The Boxers would put themselves on the board after a rough Linfield foul inside the box. Farley took the penalty kick for the Boxers to the back of the net for his ninth goal of the season. Love tried again in the 83
rd minute to bring the Boxers back, but was saved by the new Wildcat goalkeeper Grant Loriaux. With just two minutes left, Farley would try one last time, but was again saved by Loriaux.

Cohen (1-2-1) took the loss for the Boxers between the pipes, tallying three saves. Linfield's Jorge Rodriguez collected the win with right saves. Rudella led the Boxers with five of the Boxers' 19 shots and Farley tallied four shots.
