Clark, Morse Lead Boxers In Dual Loss To Pirates

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Pacific swimming team had a hard time finding points as
Amanda Clark (Jr., Olympia, Wash.) and
Charles Morse (Fr., Forest Grove, Ore.) were the only Boxers to finish first in their events, suffering a dual meet loss to Whitworth on Friday evening at the Whitworth Aquatic Center. The women suffered a 137-68 loss while the men lost 163-41.

After earning Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for last week's performance, Clark picked up two first place finishes on the evening. She finished the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:58.02 and finished the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:16.35. Morse picked up the only first place finish on the men's side. He finished the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:01.36.

Katie Porter (Jr., McMinnville, Ore.) led the Boxers in the women's 50-yard freestyle in 24.80 seconds. She also picked up second place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.97.
Kristine Valdez* (Sr., Poulsbo, Was.) finished second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:20.62.
Alex Bing* (Sr., Roseburg, Ore.) was the only other Boxer to finish in second place on the women's side in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:32.90.
Carter Suzuki (Fr.., Wailuku, Hawaii) picked up second place points in the men's 200-yard breaststroke with a timeof 2:18.69.

Both women's relay finished in second place. In the 400-yard medley relay, the Boxers finished in a time of 4:17.72. In the 400-yard freestyle, the Boxers swam a 3:44.85, finishing over one second behind Whitworth. The men finished in third place in both relays with a time of 3:48.20 in the 400-yard medley relay and a time of 3:32.58 in the 400-yard freestyle.

The women drop to a 1-2 record on the season and the men drop to 0-3 in dual action. The Boxers will finish up their eastern Washington trip tomorrow, traveling to Whitman to take on the Missionaries. The first event will begin at 1 p.m.
