Park-Hunt, Boxers Surge In Second Half To Clip Bruins

NEWBERG, Ore. –
Ashley Park-Hunt (Fr., Mililani, Hawaii) sparked the Pacific women's soccer team's offense in the second half, scoring two goals to lead the Boxers to a 3-1 victory over George Fox in Northwest Conference action on Saturday at Austin Sports Complex.

"After a disappointing outing yesterday, we rallied with heart and determination to get a great result," said associate head coach Dane Joseph. "We are extremely proud of everyone's effort today."

Park-Hunt's first goal of the match came in the 47
th minute when
Kamryn Plechot (Jr., La Palma, Calif.) threw the ball into
Kara Lankey (Fr., La Canada, Calif.), who headed the ball on to Park-Hunt. Park-Hunt gathered and shot to the inside post to tie the match up at 1-1.

Less than 10 minutes later, Park-Hunt scored again to help the Boxers take a 2-1 lead. Lankey crossed from the right side of the field to Park-Hunt, who finished to the back of the net past Bruin keeper Alyssa Montero. Park-Hunt's two goal marked her third and fourth goal on the season. Lankey recorded her sixth and seventh assists on the season.

George Fox (3-14-1, 1-12-1 NWC) were on the board first in the 32
nd minute. Michelle Young took the corner kick to the middle of the box to Hannah Harper, who shot to the back of the net past Boxer keeper
Kristina Morris (Fr., Molalla, Ore.).

"Even before they scored we were doing the right things: connecting the right ways, using the ball to do the work, and being aggressive off the dribble," Dane said. "It was purposeful today."

The Boxers added an insurance goal in the 80
th minute after a Bruin foul in the box.
McKenna Davidson (So., Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) took her second penalty kick of the weekend to the back of the net past Montero. The goal marked Davidson's 11
th goal on the season.

Morris (2-1-0) recorded the victory between the pipes, tallying three saves. Montero suffered the loss, collecting five saves. The Boxers outshot the Bruins 25-5 with seven shots coming from Davidson.

"The attack and defense, led by Kristina, were outstanding," said Dane. "But hats off to Ashley and Dani. They completely turned the game around with their energy and pizazz."

The Boxers improve to 9-6-3 overall and 6-6-2 in the Northwest Conference. The Boxers will wrap up the 2013 season next weekend as they play host to Puget Sound on Friday and Willamette on Saturday. Both matches will begin at 11 a.m.
