Davidson Scores One, Not Enough To Outlast Lutes

TACOMA, Wash. – McKenna Davidson (So., Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) scored the Pacific women's soccer team's lone goal of the match, suffering a 3-1 loss to Pacific Lutheran in Northwest Conference action at East Field on Saturday morning.
 
After a Lute foul in the box in the 23rd minute, Davidson took the penalty kick to the back of the net, past Lute keeper Marisa Gonzalez. Lucy Almao (Fr., Orange County, Calif.) had attempted in the 21st minute, but was wide of the goal.
 
The Lutes were on the board first in the 21st minute hen Lauren Larson crossed to Kaylie Rozell. Rozell shot and the ball bounced off the crossbar and into the goal. In the 63rd minute, Larson again assisted to Blake Warner. Kayla Davidson (Sr., Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) came out of the goal to protect the ball, but Warner shot right past Davidson from 25 yards out to the opposite side of the box.
 
The Lutes made it 3-1 just three minutes later whe Nicove Benham-Marin crossed to Warner, who shot from the left corner to the back of the net for her second goal of the match.
 
After the Lutes scored, the Boxers shot one last time, coming fro Kara Lankey (Fr., La Canada, Calif.), but did not make it to the back of the net as the ball was save by Takara Mitsui, who started in the second half for the Lutes.
 
Ashley Park-Hunt (Fr., Mililani, Hawaii) led the Boxers with three shots. Kayla Davidson took the loss between the pipes, tallying four saves. Mitsui claimed the victory in the second half as the Lutes pulled ahead. She tallied two saves and did not allow the Boxers to score again in the second half.
 
The Boxers drop to 8-6-3 overall and 5-6-2 in the NWC. Tomorrow the women will travel to George Fox to take on the Bruins. The match will being at 11 a.m.
