Boxer Women Take Care Of Puget Sound

 FOREST GROVE – Amanda Clark (Jr., Olympia, Wash.) swam to a school record and the Pacific women's swim team tallied up 112 points to beat Puget Sound 112- 93 in their first Northwest Conference dual meet on Friday evening at the Forest Grove Aquatic Center.
 
Clark finished the 1,000-yard freestyle in first place and also broke her previous school record. She swam a 10:46.53 which was almost a second faster than her previous record of 10:47.22. Clark also finished first in the 100-yard free with a time of 55.47 seconds and in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:20.29. Rachel Webster (Fr., Normandy Park, Wash.) finished right behind Clark in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.89 seconds.
 
Katie Porter (Jr., McMinnville, Ore.) picked up first place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.06. She also led the Boxers in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:59.41 for second place. Kristine Valdez* (Sr., Poulsbo, Wash.) picked up a first place finish in the 50-yard free with a time of 26.33. She also finished first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.61. Alex Bing* (Sr., Roseburg, Ore.) swam big in the women's final individual event of the evening, finishing first in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:08.52.
 
The women picked up a first place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:53.42. They finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:45.09.
 
Michael Hargitt* (Sr., Oregon City, Ore.) led the men's team with two first place finishes. He finished the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:27.52. In his second individual event of the evening was the 100-yard breaststroke in which he finished with a time of 1:02.31.
 
Carter Suzuki (Fr., Wailuku, Hawaii) was the only other Boxer to finish in first. He swam a 10:25.04 in the 1,000-yard freestyle event. Charles Morse (Fr., Forest Grove, Ore.) led the Boxers in the 500-yard freestyle with a second place finish after swimm a 5:02.46.
 
The Boxer men relay teams finished with a time of 1:43.44 in the 200-yard medley relay and a 1:35.26 in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The men were upset by Puget Sound, suffering a 135-70 loss.
 
The Boxers will return to the Forest Grove Aquatic Center tomorrow for another Northwest Conference dual meet. The Boxers will take on the Lutes of Pacific Lutheran. The first event will start at 11 a.m.
