Box Score
PORTLAND, Ore. – Another tremendous hitting night by
Una Areta (Fr., Kent, Wash.) was not enough to pull Pacific past Lewis & Clark Friday night as the Boxers fell in four sets, 25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 25-17, in Northwest Conference volleyball action at the Pamplin Sports Center.
Â
Areta finished the night with 27 kills and put together her eighth double-double of the season with 14 digs. She also paced the Boxers' best hitting set of the season as Pacific hit .400 in the second frame with 18 kills. The Pioneers, however, rebounded to hold off the Boxers in the third and fourth for the win.

Â
Lewis & Clark (6-15, 5-10 NWC) opened the first set by taking 9-5 lead on a trio of Pacific attack errors. The Boxers (7-15, 6-9 NWC) rebounded to come within 15-12 on a trio of Pioneers' attack errors. L&C went on to build their lead back to 23-16 before
Jamie Steach's (Fr., Pasco, Wash.) ace and a pair of Areta kills brought the Boxers back within 23-20 before the Pioneers went on to the 25-21 win.
Â
The second set was tied 7-7 when the Boxers went on a seven-point run that all but closed the set out. The run was bolstered by three Pioneers' attack errors and three Areta kills that put the Boxers up 13-7. L&C came no closer than six points the rest of the way as kills by McHolland and
Hannah Herbert (So., Hillsboro, Ore.). sealed the 25-18 Pacific victory.
Â
The Pioneers jumped out to the 7-1 lead in the third set, but the Boxers came right back to score six straight points, two off of McHolland kills, to take the 8-7 lead. The Pioneers kept it close, taking the 17-15 on another string of Pacific errors, but the Boxers took the 19-17 on a pair of attack errors. The Pioneers, however, went on to score eight of the final 10 points to take back the 25-21 win.
Â
Lewis & Clark put the match out of reach in the fourth set, using a string of 10 unanswered points to take a 10-1 lead. The Boxers could come as close as 13-8 on an Areta kill, but came no closer as the Pioneers went on to the 25-17 victory.
