Boxers Held To Two Shots In Loss To No. 19 Loggers

FOREST GROVE – The Pacific women's soccer team was held to just two shots, suffering a 4-0 loss to No. 19 Puget Sound on Friday morning in Northwest Conference action at Lincoln Park Stadium.

The Loggers controlled the majority of the match as the Boxers were able to shoot twice on the nationally ranked team. The two shots came within the first 20 minutes of the match.
Holly Chang-Northway (Fr., Eugene, Ore.) took the Boxers first shot in the sixth minute, but was wide left of the goal.
Chandler Bowen (Jr., Silverdale, Wash.) gained an opportunity, but was saved by Logger goalkeeper Casey Thayer.

Puget Sound (14-2-1, 12-2-1 NWC) scored their first goal of the match in the 26
th minute of a cross from Kylie Beeson to Lauren Swanson, who shot from 15 yards out to the near post, taking a 1-0 lead into the second half. Amalia Acorda-Fey scored her eight goal of the season in the 54
th minute, off a free kick from 30 yards out on the far side of the pitch to the center of the net, past Boxer keeper
Kristina Morris (Fr., Mollala, Ore.).

In the 63
rd minute, Puget Sound took a 3-0 lead off a slow roller from Kylie Beeson. Beeson received the ball from Acorda-Fey and shot from six yards out to the near post. Beeson scored less-than five minutes later. Swanson crossed across the field to Beeson, who shot from five yards out to the near corner of the box.

Morris (2-2-0) suffered the loss between the pipes, tallying two saves.
Kayla Davidson (Sr., Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) came into the match after Morris suffered an injury in the 67
th minute. Davidson tallied one save. Thayer recorded the victory for the Loggers between the pipes, tallying one save.

The Boxers drop to 9-7-3 on the season and 6-7-2 in the Northwest Conference. The squad will play their final match of the season tomorrow.
