Boxers End Season With Win Over Bruins

NEWBERG, Ore. – After going four games without scoring a goal, the Pacific men's soccer team scored three in the first half to end their season on a high note with a 3-1 win over George Fox in their final game of the season on Saturday at the Austin Sports Complex.

Quintin Love (So., Kailua, Hawaii) sparked the Boxers' offense in the 17
th minute when he received the ball off a corner kick from
Nick Pinto (Fr., Wilsonville, Ore.). The goal marked Love's second goal of the season. Four minutes later, Pinto was on the other side of the offense as
Steen Shober (Fr., Missoula, Mont.) crossed to Pinto. Pinto collected himself and shot to the back of the net, past Bruin keeper Ricardo Sotelo.

In the 43
rd minute of the match, Nick Kaminsky (Fr., Breves, Brazil) crossed from the right side to
Nick Rudella (Sr., Sammamish, Wash.), who finished to the left corner of the goal past Sotelo. The goal marked Rudella's fourth goal on the season.

As the Boxers did not score another goal in the second half, the Bruins cut the lead to 3-1 in the 54
th minute. Miguel Ixta Lopex took the corner kick for the Bruins and put it in the feet of Erik Davies. Davies took the ball to the back of the net past Boxer goalkeeper
Michael Summers (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.).

The Bruins outshot the Boxers 19-10, with 13 shots coming in the second half, but the Boxers' defense made an impact and only allowed the Bruins to score one. Summers (6-7-0) claimed the victory between the pipes and made the most of his final game in a Boxer uniform. He tallied seven saves. Sotelo suffered the loss and did not tally a save.

"The team played well today and scored some great goals," said head coach Jim Brazeau. "I am very happy for the seniors who were able to finish their careers with a positive result."Â

The Boxers finished the season 7-12-1 overall and seventh in the Northwest Conference with a 2-11-1 record.
