Swimming Can’t Find Groove Against Lutes

FOREST GROVE – The Pacific swim team had a hard time finding their groove, suffering a loss on both the men's and women's sides to Pacific Lutheran at the Forest Grove Aquatic Center on Saturday morning.
On the women's side,
Amanda Clark (Jr., Olympia, Wash.) led the Boxers with three first place finishes. She finished the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:58.21. In the 200-yard freestyle, she swam a 1:58.99 and also in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:21.27.
Katie Porter (Jr., McMinnville, Ore.) picked up two first place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle (25.17 seconds) and in the 100-yard freestyle (54.46 seconds).
Alex Bing* (Sr., Roseburg, Ore.) finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:31.53.
Pacific Lutheran took both relays, beating pacific 120-85.
Rachel Webster (Fr., Normandy Park, Wash.) led the Boxers in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:18.62.
The men's side also had a tough time scoring points with not one swimmer picking up a first place finish.
Charles Morse (Fr., Forest Grove, Ore.) led the Boxers in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:14.14.
Patrick Daniels (Fr., Salem, Ore.) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:56.63.
Michael Hargitt* (Sr., Oregon City, Ore.) finished the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:08.03 for a third place finish. He aso place third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:21.05 right behind teammate
Carter Suzuki (Fr., Wailuku, Hawaii). Suzuki swam to second place with a time of 2:20.18.
The Boxers could not come out in front, losing both of the relay races. The men suffered a 155-50 loss to the Lutes.
The women drop to 1-1 in dual meets on the season and the men are 0-2. The Boxers will be on the road next weekend, traveling to the Whits. They will take on Whitworth on Friday at 6 p.m. and Whitman on Saturday at 1 p.m.
