Quick Overtime Goal Stumps Boxers On Senior Day

FOREST GROVE – A quick overtime goal within the first minute of the overtime period stumped the Pacific women's soccer team on senior day, suffering a 1-0 loss to Willamette in their final game of the season on Saturday morning at Lincoln Park Stadium.

Within the first minute of the overtime period Willamette scored the golden goal to claim the victory. Rachel Fleener took control of the ball and shot from 30-yards out, in the center of the field to the right side of the goal, past
Kayla Davidson.

The Boxers shot 18 times throughout the match with 12 opportunities coming in the first half.
Kara Lankey (Fr., La Canada, Calif.) took the first two shots for the Boxers, but the both resulted high.
Kaeli Laxson (Sr., Nampa, Idaho) made the most of her final match as a Boxer, shooting twice, but each shot was high above the goal. Laxson's second shot came off a corner kick from
Holly Chang-Northway (Fr., Eugene, Ore.).

Kayla Davidson (Sr., Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) was also making the most of her final match in a Boxer uniform. She made a huge save for the Boxers in the 80
th minute when she recorded a yellow card. Willamette earned a free kick, but the shot to the goal landed right in the hands of Davidson, helping the Boxers send the game into over time.

The Boxers had their best opportunity in the second half when Lankey shot in the in the 82
nd minute, but was saved by Bearcat keeper Nicole Price. Lankey shot one more time in the 88
th minute, but was high of the goal. Lankey led the Boxers with nine shots with four shots on goal.

Davidson ends her senior season with a 7-6-3 record, tallying two saves in her final time between the pipes. Price collected the victory, collecting eight saves. The Boxers outshot the Bearcats 18-8.

"We are really happy for the seniors to move forward with their lives," said associate head coach Dane Joseph. "They were brilliant over the years and deserved way more than this. But we are forever and greatly indebted to them."

The Boxers end the season 9-8-3 overall and 6-8-2 to finish sixth in the Northwest Conference.
