Curl Leads Boxers In Blowout Of Wolves

FOREST GROVE – Freshman forward
Sarah Curl (Fr., Portland, Ore.) made her Boxer debut, leading the Pacific women's basketball team with 30 points and a 94-39 blowout over Walla Walla (Wash.) in non-conference action on Tuesday night at the Stoller Center.

Curl scored 19 points in the first half, with most of her points coming in the final 10 minutes of the half. She was 9 of 13 from the field and 1 of 2 from beyond the arc to go along with three steals. Curl ended the game shooting 68 percent from the field and tallied a team-high six steals.

The Boxers took a 4-0 run in the first minute and a half of the game after a made free throw from
Olivia Cook (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.). The Wolves made one free throw shot, but could not stop the Boxers as they went on a 10-0 run to take a 14-3 lead with 15 minutes left to play. The Boxers took their biggest lead at the end of the first half, leading by 29 after a trey from
Abby Talboy (So., Boise, Idaho).

The Wolves could not catch up to the Boxers in the second half as the Boxers took a 39-point lead after a
Jonica Durbin (Jr., Seaback, Wash.) made jumper. With 10 minutes left to play, the Wolves were still nowhere near coming back into the game. The Boxers put up a 76-34 lead after a jumper from Curl. The Boxers took their biggest lead of the game in the final minute of the game, leading the Wolves by 55 points after another score from Curl.

Cook and
Kati Sheldon (Sr., Paso Robles, Calif.) each had double-doubles. Cook scored 15 points and picked up 16 rebounds while Sheldon had 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her first double-double as a Boxer. Talboy tallied a career-high 14 points. The Boxers shot 48 percent from the field, 40 percent beyond the arc and 71 percent from the charity stripe. The Boxers collected 21 steals.

The Boxers improve to 2-2 on the season while the Wolves (0-13) are still looking for their first victory. The Boxers will take the next week and half off and play on Dec. 14, hosting New Hope Christian College at the Stoller Center.
