Boxers Suffer Loss In NWC Home Opener

FOREST GROVE – The Pacific women's tennis team won two matches to start the 2013 season, suffering a 7-2 loss to Puget Sound in Northwest Conference play on Friday afternoon at the Holce Tennis Courts.
 
Puget Sound (1-0, 1-0 NWC) took the first two matches before Lillian Do (So., ) and Synclaire Waldron (Fr., Modesto, Calif.) also collected a victory for the Boxers in doubles competition at the No. 1 spot, their first match victory of the season. Waldron and Do beat Puget Sound's Maddie Thiesse and Josephine Dow 8-2.
 
The Loggers took the rest of the matches before Becky Sheller (Fr., Gresham, Ore.) outsteadied her opponent in the No. 6 spot, winning her first match as a Boxer. She took the first set against Puget Sound's Malia Ford 6-1 and came back again to win the second set 6-3.
 
The Boxers (0-1, 0-1 NWC) will look for a victory tomorrow as they play host to Pacific Lutheran for their second NWC match. The match will begin at noon.
