Box Score
FOREST GROVE –
Becky Sheller (Fr., Gresham, Ore.) won her second match as a Boxer, but was enough as the Boxers suffer a 7-2 loss to Pacific Lutheran in Northwest Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Holce Tennis Courts.
“Becky has proven that she has what it takes to compete at the college level with two convincing victories to start the season off in the No. 6 position,” said assistant coach Justin Carrier.
Sheller took the first set against Allison McClure 6-4 and the second 6-3 at the No. 6 singles spot. Synclaire Waldon (Fr., Modesto, Calif.) picked up her first victory of the season in the No. 1 singles spot. She beat Pacific Lutheran's (2-0, 2-0 NWC) Samantha Lund 6-2 in the first set and 6-4 in the second set.
“Synclaire played some really good tennis at the No. 1 spot today,” said Carrier. “I am looking forward to her gaining some confidence as we continue on with some more tough match ups this weekend.”
The Boxers suffered all three doubles matches. Waldron and
Lillian Do (So., Beaverton, Ore.) lost in a tiebreaker to Pacific Lutheran's Lund and Payton McGriff. They tied it up at eight, but lost the tiebreaker 7-2. Sheller and
