Waldron Wins, Boxers Can’t Come Close To Wildcats

FOREST GROVE – Synclaire Waldron (Fr., Modesto, Calif.) won the Boxers only match of the day, losing 8-1 to Linfield on Friday afternoon at the Holce Tennis Courts.
 
“With her third win at No.1 singles of the season, Synclaire has shown an on court presence and maturity that is seldom seen in a first year collegiate players,” said assistant coach Justin Carrier.
 
The Boxers were down 8-0 until Waldron won her match. She lost the first game 6-4, but came back in the second to win 7-5. Waldron won the final set 10-7 to win over Linfield's Lexi Thomas. Waldron and her partner, Rachel Mizuno (Sr., Mililani, Hawaii) came close to beating Linfield at the No. 1 doubles, but came up short 8-6.
 
Lillian Do (So., Beaverton, Ore.) played a tough match with Linfield's Kwynn Ecton in the No. 5 singles flight. Do won the first set 6-3, but came up short in the second 6-2. Do couldn't put the finishing touches on Ecton in the final set, losing 10-4.
 
Amber Craviotto (So., Eugene, Ore.) put up a fight in the No. 6 singles position, but came up short both times 7-5 to Linfield's Gretchen Jernstedt.
 
The Boxers drop to 0-5 overall and 0-5 in the Northwest Conference. They will travel to George Fox on Saturday to face the Bruins. The match begins at 11 a.m.
