Solid Play From Entire Lineup Gives Boxers First Win

FOREST GROVE – Pacific picked solid play from every part of the lineup to pick up their first win of the season Sunday morning, knocking off the College of Idaho 7-2 in women's tennis action at the Holce Tennis Courts.
 
The Boxers opened their confidence-building victory by taking two of three doubles sets.  The No. 1 tandem of Synclaire Waldron (So., Modesto, Calif.) and Rachel Mizuno (Sr., Mililani, Hawaii) set the pace with an 8-2 win over Hayley Hutchings and Shae Stults.  Amber Craviotto (So., Eugene, Ore.) and Kelsey Lack (Jr., Grants Pass, Ore.) followed with an 8-3 win over Rachel Webster and Emilee Chapman at No. 3.
 
Tanya Greenwood and Emily Tesnohlidek prevented the Pacific doubles sweep, securing an 8-4 win over Francesca Battaglia (Jr., Sherman Oaks, Calif.) and Carlee Rhodaback (Fr., Albany, Ore.) at No. 2.
 
Pacific came through with the first two victories in the singles frames.  Waldron opened with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Stults at No. 1, while Becky Sheller (Fr., Gresham, Ore.) followed with a 6-1, 6-0 defeat of Chapman at No. 5.  Hutchings brought the Yotes to within 4-2 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Mizuno at No. 2 before Craviotto secured the team victory with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Webster at No. 6.
 
Lillian Do (So., Beaverton, Ore.) added win at No. 4 over Greenwood, 6-1, 6-0, while Battaglia closed the match with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Tesnohlidek in the No. 3 flight.
 
Pacific returns to Northwest Conference play on Friday as they host Lewis & Clark at the Holce Courts.
