Boxers Drop Match To Whitworth

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Pacific women's tennis team played tough matches against Whitworth, but could not find a win in 9-0 loss to the Pirates in Northwest Conference action on Sunday afternoon at the Scotford Tennis Center.
 
Synclaire Waldron (So., Modesto, Calif.) suffered a 6-3 loss in the first set. She came back in the second set to force a tiebreaker, but couldn't come out on top, losing 7-3 in the No. 1 singles flight to Whitworth's Saryn Mooney. Lillian Do (So., Beaverton, Ore.) also forced a tiebreaker in the No. 4 position to Whitworth's Megan Wingfield, but was in the first set. She lost the tiebreaker 7-5. In the second game, she could not score a point, losing 6-0.
 
Rachel Mizuno (Sr., Mililani, Hawaii) teamed up with Waldron for the No. 1 doubles flight. The suffered an 8-4 loss to Whitworth's Mooney and Taylor Pena. Do and Becky Sheller (Fr., Gresham, Ore.) also suffered a 8-3 loss as the No. 2 doubles flight. Amber Craviotto (So., Eugene, Ore.) and Kelsey Lack (Jr., Grants Pass, Ore.) lost 8-1 to Jessie Steele and KC McConnell in the No. 3 doubles flight.
 
The Boxers (1-10, 0-10 NWC) will take a break from Northwest Conference action and play host to Treasure Valley Community College next Saturday, Mar. 23 as an exhibition game. The match will begin at 9 a.m.
