Box Score
GLENDALE, Calif. – The Pacific women's tennis team earned their second sweep in three days, collecting a 9-0 victory over Mills in a spring break matchup on Monday.
“Great way to start spring break,” said assistant coach Justin Carrier. “The ladies played some dominant tennis up and down the lineup to come up with our convincing 9-0 victory.”
Synclaire Waldron (So., Modesto, Calif.) collected a victory in the No.1 singles flight, winning a 6-0 first set, but her opponent retired in the second set due to knee problems. Waldron teamed up with
Lillian Do (So., Beaverton, Ore.) in the No. 1 doubles position and claimed a 8-1 victory.
Do also came up big in the No. 3 singles spot. She won both sets 6-1 against Mills' Hanna Kirkorian.
Becky Sheller (Fr., Gresham, Ore.) won 6-1 and 6-0 in the No. 4 singles spot. She teamed up with
Francesca Battaglia (So., Sherman Oaks, Calif.) in the No. 2 doubles flight and won 8-2.
Battaglia won her first match as the No. 2 singles. She won the first set 6-3 and took the second set 6-1. “Battaglia struggled to start her match, but found her rhythm and came up with her first win at the No. 2 spot,” said Carrier.
Carlee Rhodaback (Fr., Albany, Ore.) and
Amber Craviotto (So., Eugene, Ore.) both won their matches in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles position. Rhodaback won 6-3 and 6-1, while Craviotto won 6-1 and 6-0.
“Unaccustomed to the sun, this was a great warm up match taking us into our match versus Occidental tomorrow afternoon,” said Carrier.
The Boxers (3-10, 0-10 NWC) will continue their spring break action tomorrow. They travel to Occidental for a match starting at 3 p.m.
