SALEM, Ore. – Corban took advantage of five Pacific errors to build their winning cushion Wednesday as the Boxers fell to the Warriors 7-4 in baseball action at Warrior Field.

Four of the Pacific miscues took place in the second inning, leading to three Warriors' runs.  Despite the frame, Pacific managed to keep within 4-3 after a three-run fourth inning before Corban closed the door with a run in the seventh and two in the eighth.

Ben Duerr (Fr., Lebanon, Ore.) led the Boxers offensively by going 2 for 4 with a RBI.  Pacific (7-14) managed just four hits off of four Corban pitchers as the Boxers played their fifth game in five days.

Peter Martin led off the fateful second inning with a single and scored after he stole second and Steven Kha reached on the Boxers' first error of the frame.  An errant pickoff attempt allowed Kha to third and he scored on a sacrifice fly by William Koenig.  Landon Frost then reached on a single, went to second on a throwing error, stole third and scored when the throw to third base went past the bag.

The Boxers scored their three runs in the fourth with the aid of just one hit.  Reliever Justin White walked two of the Boxers' first three batters and hit the third.  Adam Shumka was then summoned from the bullpen, but issued walks to the next two batters to push across Pacific's first two runs.  Duerr finally delivered the Boxers' first hit of the game, a single to right field that scored Nick Tasaka (Sr., Hawaii Kai, Hawaii) to tie the game at 3-3.

Corban (18-12) added one run in the home half of the fourth as Kha hit a leadoff single and scored on a fielder's choice ground out.  Pacific tied it once again in the seventh when Walker Olis (Fr., Burlington, Wash.) singled with two outs and scored on a double by Austin Gallagher (So., Lake Oswego, Ore.).

Corban took the lead for good in the bottom of the seventh.  Gregg Romero led off with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jordan Johansen.  The Warriors added two insurance runs in the eighth when Kha stole home and Koenig plated on a sacrifice fly.

Nathan Sueyematsu (Fr., Tualatin, Ore.) took the loss for Pacific in relief, allowing one run on two hits in the seventh inning.  He was one of seven pitchers used by the Boxers on the afternoon.  Caleb Virtue earned the win in relief for the Warriors, allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts in five innings.  Johnansen, Koenig and Frost all had two hits to lead the Warriors offensively.

Pacific now returns to Northwest Conference play, hosting Willamette for a three-game set.  The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday and a single game on Saturday.
