Boxers Outhit By Bruins In Doubleheader Loss

FOREST GROVE – After taking two games from George Fox yesterday, the Pacific softball team was on the opposite end, losing 7-1 and 6-2 in a doubleheader loss on Saturday afternoon at Sherman Larkins Stadium.
The Boxers dropped to 15-15 overall and 10-9 in the Northwest Conference while George Fox improved to 15-17 overall and 12-8 in the conference.
GAME 1 – George Fox 7, Pacific 1
Just like yesterday, Pacific was on the board first with one run coming in the first inning.
Becca Moen (Jr., Gresham, Ore.) led off the inning with a single up the middle. She advanced to second on
Rachel Roberts' (Fr., Oregon City, Ore.) infield single. Moen and Roberts advanced a base on a pass ball and Moen scored on
Jessie Moore's (Fr., Portland, Ore.) sacrifice fly to center field.
The Bruins were able to come back and score on in the second inning and was able to shut down the Boxers the rest of the game. The Bruins scored two more in the third to take a 3-1 lead and secured the victory with four more runs in the seventh inning.
Marissa Reichard (Fr., Forest Grove, Ore.) suffered the loss in the circle, dropping to 7-4 on the season. She allowed six runs, four earned, on seven hits while striking out two and walking three in 6.1 innings of work.
Sara Aasness came in as relief for the final inning and allowed one run on two hits.
Roberts led the Boxers at the plate, going 3 for 4.
Kylee Oshiro (So., Aiea, Hawaii) went 2 for 3 and
Kaitlyn Shikada (So., Honolulu, Hawaii) went 1 for 2.
GAME 2 – George Fox 6, Pacific 2
The Bruins were on the board first in the first innings, taking a 2-0 lead. Kat Hylton scored on Bethany Chriss' ground out to the shortstop. Nicole Rente scored on Amanda Woods successful squeeze bunt.
The Boxers scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but wasn't enough to outscore the Bruins as they scored four runs in the sixth inning for some insurance. Moore led off the inning with a single to center field.
Maddie Collura (Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.) came in to pinch run for Moore. Collura advanced to second on Mitchell's ground out to the third baseman and stole third on the next play. Oshiro hit a ball deep to right field, but tip off the right fielder's glove to score Collura. Oshiro scored on
Kiera Melton's (So., Pleasanton, Calif.), who pinch hit for
Megan Winans (Fr., Hood River, Ore.), ground ball to the second baseman.
Aasness (5-3) suffered the loss in the circle, allowing four runs, three earned, on six hits. She struck out two and walked one in 5.2 innings of work.
Chloe Hanson (So., Trail, Ore.) came in as a relief for Aasness and pitched 1.1 innings and allowed two runs on two hits while walking one.
Moore led the Boxers at the plate, going 2 for 3. Shikada went 1 for2 and
Emmie Moser (Fr., Mt. Vernon, Wash) went 1 for 1 as a pinch hitter.
The Boxers will travel to Washington next weekend to take on Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran. They will play a doubleheader against Puget Sound on Saturday with the first pitch at noon and play Pacific Lutheran on Sunday with the first pitch at noon.
