Do Wins Boxers Only Match In Loss To Whitman

Lillian Do (So., Beaverton, Ore.) was the only winner on the court for the Pacific women's tennis team in 8-1 loss to an undefeated Whitman squad in Northwest Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Holce Tennis Courts
Do defeated Whitman's Jenna Dobrin at the No. 3 singles flight. She lost the first set 4-6, but managed to come back and win the second set 6-3. Do fought hard in the final match to secure the victory with a score of 10-6. “Lily really impressed me by playing smart, patient tennis to secure the Boxers only win of the day at No. 3 singles,” said assistant coach Justin Carrier.
Becky Sheller (Fr., Gresham, Ore.) played a hard fought match in the No. 4 singles spot. She won the first set 7-5, but couldn't hold off Whitman's Kate Rubinstein in the final two sets, losing 6-4 and 10-6. Sheller teamed up with Do in the No. 1 doubles flight and took a 8-1 to Alyssa Roberg and Courtney Lawless from Whitman.
Rachel Mizuno (Sr., Mililani, Hawaii) was scoreless in the No. 1 singles position, losing to Whitman's top Lawless.
Francesca Battaglia (So., Sherman Oaks, Calif.) was also defeated in the No. 2 position by Whitman's Roberg.
The Boxers fall to 0-8 on the season and 0-8 in the Northwest Conference. Tomorrow, the Boxers will play host to College of Idaho for non-conference tennis action starting at 10 a.m.
