FOREST GROVE – A winning near record effort for the women's 400-meter relay team highlighted the Pacific track and field team's efforts Saturday as the sixth annual Pacific Twilight Track & Field Invitational concluded at Lincoln Park Stadium.
 
The women's short relay topped the list of nine top-four placers for the Boxers in the meet that featured 22 teams from every level of collegiate track.  The squad of Alexis Damo (Fr., Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii), Sarah Tuffey (Jr., Valencia, Calif.), Emily Tuffey (So., Valencia, Calif.) and Kelli Aken-Pagdilao (Jr., Makakilo, Hawaii) crossed the line ion 49.43 seconds,  missing the school record by nine-hundredths of a second.  The same quartet came back to post a second place finish in the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 4:07.71.
 
Michael Hunker (Sr., Cornelius, Ore.) closed out his final home meet with a lifetime best in the men's 110-meter hurdles.  His second place time of 15.41 seconds moves him to No. 5 on Pacific's all-time list in the event.  Teammate Daniel Wagner (So., Kailua, HawaiI) placed fourth in 15.91 seconds.
 
Kelson Kawai (Jr., North Kohala, Hawaii) and Budweiser Hawkins (So., Las Vegas, Nev.) captured a pair of second place finishes in the jumps.  Kawai finished second in the men's high jump, clearing 6 feet, 6.75 inches, while Hawkins came close to his season best in the men's  long jump with a leap of 22 feet, 11 inches.
 
Jesse Bethke (So., Cave Junction, Ore.) had a one-inch season best in the men's discus, placing third with his mark of 142 feet, 3 inches.  Aken-Pagdilao came back to finish fourth in the women's 100 meters in 12.90 seconds while Michael Zane (So., Honolulu, Hawaii) capped a comeback season with a fourth place time of 22.41 seconds in the men's 200 meters.
 
Sarah Tuffey finished out her short Pacific track career by breaking the one-minute barrier in the women's 400 meters, placing fifth in a season best 59.87 seconds.
 
Portland State, who will compete at Lincoln Park Stadium next week in the Big Sky Conference Championships, scored 11 individual event winners on the afternoon.  They were led by meet and stadium record efforts by Jazmin Ratcliff in the women's 100-meter hurdles (14.07 seconds) and Hanna Johnson in the women's shot put (49-3.75).  Amber Rozcicha had a meet and stadium record in the women's 1,500 meters on Friday, winning in 4:27.74.
 
Spokane CC, competing in the Pacific Twilight for the first time, captured five event titles in the Saturday session.  They were led by the men's 400-meter relay team of Wes Bailey, Donovan Drew, Micah Ohl and Robert Shelby, who won with a meet and stadium record of 41.26 seconds.
 
A handful of Pacific athletes will continue to compete in the quest for qualifying marks for the NCAA Division III Championships.  Pacific has on the schedule the Saint Martin's Last Chance Meet on Sunday in Lacey, Wash., as well as the Whitworth Last Chance Meet on May 14 in Spokane, Wash.
