FOREST GROVE – After a slow first half, the Boxers came from behind a 1-0 deficit in an exciting second half to beat Northwest Christian 2-1 in their final non-conference match of the season on Thursday night at Lincoln Park Stadium.

"It took too long for us to settle down," said head coach Morgan Joseph. "But after they scored, we showed our true mental and dug deep to get a win. We imposed ourselves on them during the second half, but it has to start at the first whistle."

Northwest Christian (1-5-0) scored the first goal of the game in the 53rd minute. Melyssa Weber found an open Brenda Luquin, who shot form 18 yards out past Boxer goalkeeper Kayla Davidson (Sr., Kailua-Kona, Hawaii).

The Boxers fired back 12 minutes later in the 65th minute when Park-Hunt received the ball in a crowded box off Lucy Almao's (Fr., Orange County, Calif.) corner kick. The box was very crowded and Park-Hunt used her body to put the ball to the back of the net, her first goal of the season, past Beacon goalkeeper Kristin Fulbright.

After 15 minutes went by and a yellow card on the Beacons, the Boxers picked up momentum and Kamryn Plechot (Jr., La Palma, Calif.) scored the game-winning goal in a crowded box off a corner kick. The goal marks Plechot's first goal of the season.

"It was great to see the corners pay off and for Ashley and Kamryn to grab one each," said associate head coach Dane Joseph. "They have been the most aggressive on set pieces and the payoff from competing for the ball is just."

"Kudos to Kam, Chandler, Lucy and Ashley," said Morgan Joseph. "They brought the mentality to win every first and second ball and make something positive out of it."

Kayla Davidson (3-0-1) collected the victory between the pipes. She tallied one save. Kara Lankey (Fr., La Canada, Calif.) led the Boxers with four shots. The Boxers out shot the Beacons 11-5 and collected seven cornerkicks. Beacon goalkeeper Kristin Fulbright took the loss, tallying six saves.

"We are indebted to the great crowd that turned out to support us," said Dane Joseph. "They were absolutely fantastic and made a huge difference."

The Boxers (3-0-1) are finished with non-conference play and will head into Northwest Conference action traveling to Linfield next Wednesday, Sept. 18. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
