Boxers Suffer First Loss To Banana Slugs

FOREST GROVE – The Pacific men's soccer team had trouble getting their offense going as they only recorded two shots in the first half, in their first loss of the season, their final non-conference match, suffering a 1-0 battle to UC Santa Cruz Tuesday afternoon at Lincoln Park Stadium.

"I told the team that we need to put this game behind us and look forward to the weekend," said head coach Jim Brazeau.

th minute, D.J. Fuller crossed to Zach Hummel who caught Boxer keeper
Zach Cohen (Sr., Grafton, Calif.) out of position and shot from six yards out on the left side of the box.

Ian Farley (Jr., Spokane, Wash.) led the Boxers with four shots. He took the Boxers first shot of the game in the eighth minute, but was wide right of the goal. Farley's shot on goal came in the 79
th minute, but was saved by Banana Slug goalkeeper Nate Levinson.

Another opportunity came for the Boxers earlier in the second half when
Nick Rudella (Sr., Sammamish, Wash.) shot, but was saved by Levinson.

Cohen (1-1-0) suffered the loss between the pipes, tallying four saves.
Michael Summers (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.) started the first half collecting four saves. Nate Levinson (1-6-0) recorded his first victory of the season, tallying two saves.

The Boxers' hot streak comes to an end as they fall to 5-1-0. They start Northwest Conference action this weekend with Puget Sound on Saturday and Pacific Lutheran on Sunday. Both matches will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Lincoln Park Stadium. Live stats and video are available at www.goboxers.com
