MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Pacific women's soccer team scored a goal in each half in their first Northwest Conference matchup, but was not enough to outlast a tough Linfield squad in 4-2 loss on Wednesday evening in McMinnville.

"We've gone to a difficult place and against a difficult team, fought our way to score twice," said head coach Morgan Joseph. "Kudos to this young team. They continue to impress, but now they must rebound quickly and show they can get results while playing well."

The Boxers scored the first goal of the game in the 12th minute. Kara Lankey (Fr., La Canada, Calif.) dribbled to the left side of the goal and shot a slow-roller to the back of the net past Wildcat goalkeeper Kallina Haase.

Linfield (5-0, 1-0 NWC) scored the tying goal in the 21st minute when 2012 Offensive Player of the Year, Emily Fellows kicked across the goal, but Kayla Davidson (Sr., Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) dove and missed, heading into the second half tied 1-1.

The Boxers could not stop the Wildcat offense as they scored three goals in the second half. The game-winning goal for Linfield came in the 47th minute when Tegan Grunwald found Marisa Specht who kick directly in front of the goal to the back of the net.

In the 89th minute, the Boxers picked up another goal, but was not enough to outlast the Wildcats. McKenna Davidson (So., Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) shot straight from 10 yards out past Wildcat goalkeeper Kallina Haase.

"I continue to be amazed at how dangerous McKenna and Kara are; they deserved their goals for all their work tonight," said associate head coach Dane Joseph. "Great performances all around, but Kristina, Rachel Anderson, and Taylor Gillespie were brilliant and defiant to the end."

Davidson (3-1-1) took the loss between the pipes, tallying a season-high seven saves, six in the first half. Linfield's Haase collected one save. Lankey, McKenna Davidson, and Ashley Park-Hunt (Fr., Mililani, Hawaii) took the Boxers' only three shots of the match.

The Boxers fall to 3-1-1 on the season, 0-1-0 NWC. This weekend, they will host George Fox on Saturday and Pacific Lutheran on Sunday. Both matches begin at noon. Live stats and video are available at www.goboxers.com.
