Boxers Score Quick To Beat Howard Payne

FOREST GROVE – The Pacific men's soccer team scored two quick goals in the first 10 minutes of the first period to help maintain the lead and claim a 3-2 victory over the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets on Monday evening in non-conference action at Lincoln Park Stadium.

Nick Kaminsky (Fr., Breves, Brasil) scored the Boxers first goal. Within almost three minutes into the match,
Nick Pinto (Fr., Wilsonville, Ore.) crossed the face of the goal to Kaminsky, who finished to the back of the net past Howard Payne (0-3-0) goalkeeper Allen Chehadi.

Just eight minutes later,
Ian Farley (Jr., Spokane, Wash.) tricked the Howard Payne defense with a no look, backheel cross to
Jorge Mandujano (Sr., Forest Grove, Ore.) who would finish between the pipes past Chehadi.

The Yellow Jackets pushed the Boxers as they at the 27-minute mark off a shot from inside the box past Boxer goalkeeper Mike Summers (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.), making it 2-1 heading into the second period.

Farley scored his third goal of the season at the 68-minute mark. Pacific earned a free kick after a foul by Howard Payne. Off the free kick, the ball bounced off the defense into the foot of Farley, who finished to the back of the net.

Howard Payne scored one more goal, but was not enough to outlast the Boxers. A corner kick was issued to the Yellow Jackets. Kevin Ruiz kicked it to Shay Pate, who headed the ball past Boxer goalkeeper
Zach Cohen (Sr., Grafton, Calif.).

Summers (2-0) collected the victory between the pipes, tallying three saves. Cohen came into the match to start the second period between the pipes. Howard Payne's Allan Chehadi took the loss in the goal. He tallied two saves.

The Boxers (2-0-0) will continue non-conference action through this weekend. They travel down to Oregon Tech to take on Walla Walla and Oregon Tech. Both of the matches start at 4 p.m.
