Boxers Scores Early, Not Enough To Outlast Loggers

FOREST GROVE – After scoring a goal early in the first half, the Pacific men's soccer team couldn't come out with a win in the second half, suffering a 3-2 heartbreaker to Puget Sound in Northwest Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Park Stadium.

"I thought the team played well today," said head coach Jim Brazeau. We let in a couple of unfortunate goals, but overall we did some good things and are looking forward to tomorrow against Pacific Lutheran."

The Boxers were on the board first in the 22
nd minute.
Nick Rudella (Sr., Sammamish, Wash.) scored his third goal of the season off a free kick that bounced off the defense and into the feet of
Jorge Mandujano (Sr., Forest Grove, Ore.), who crossed to Rudella to score past Puget Sound keeper Nate King.

An unfortunate Logger goal came just two minutes later when
Mason Nakama (Sr., Honolulu, Hawaii) tried to block a Logger shot, but instead went in on his own goal past teammate
Michael Summers (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.).

After an offside call against Puget Sound, the Boxers gained possession and took advantage of the offense.
Ian Farley (Jr., Spokane, Wash.) kicked the ball towards the goal which found
Quintin Love (So., Kailua, Hawaii) who scored his first goal of the season.

Puget Sound (3-3-0, 1-0-0 NWC) retaliated in the 75
th minute with a goal off a corner kick by Matt Durland. They would score the game-winning goal in 88
th minute when Sean Ryan went on a breakaway and finished past Summers.

Summers (4-1-0) suffered his first loss of the season, tallying eight saves. Nate King (3-3-0) record the win with two saves. Four Boxers all had one shot a piece with all four shots on goal.
