Boxers Can’t Hold Out Whitworth In Loss

SPOKANE, Wash. –
Ian Farley (Jr., Spokane, Wash.) provided the only offense for the Pacific men's soccer team, suffering a 4-1 loss to Whitworth in Northwest Conference action on a windy afternoon at Whitworth's soccer fields.
Farley helped the Boxers take a 1-0 lead within the first ten minutes of the match. In the 7
th minute,
Quintin Love (So., Kailua, Hawaii) crossed to the open Farley who shot to the far post, past Pirate goalkeeper Shane Nishioka-Healy, for his seventh goal of the season.
Whitwoth tied the match in the 19
th minute when Andrew French and Rylan Berriman assisted to Zach Waldher who brokeaway down the right side and shot past Boxer keeper
Michael Summers (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.). Whitworth would take the lead in the 36
th minute Will Wren put back his own shot that he rebounded off of.
Zach Waldher would score again to extend the Pirate lead to 3-1. Andrew French crossed to Waldher and shot from the front of the net. The Pirates capped their scoring in the 62
nd minute when the ball deflected off a Pacific player into the goal.
The Boxers four times in the second period with their best opportunity coming in the 60
th minute when
Jorge Mandujano (Sr., Forest Grove, Ore.) shot, but was saved by Nishioka-Healy.
Summers (4-4-0) took the loss between the pipes, tallying four saves.
Zach Cohen (Sr., Grafton, Calif.) saw action, coming into the second period with 20 minutes left to play. Nishioka-Healy tallied the win for the Pirates, collecting two saves. Farley led the Boxers with four shots.
The Boxers drop to 5-5-0 overall and 0-4-0 in the Northwest Conference. Whitworth improves to 5-2-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the NWC.
