Swimming Wins On Both Ends Against College of Idaho

CALDWELL, Idaho – After a long break from competition, the Pacific University swim team started the 2014 year off with wins on both the men's and women's side in nonconference action on Saturday at J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

On the women's side,
Amanda Clark (Jr., Olympia, Wash.) won all four of her events. She started the meet off with a win in the 1,000-yard free style in a time of 10:51.13. She swam a 2:00.01 in the 200-yard freestyle. In the 200-yard fly, Clark swam a 2:16.88 and in her final event, the 500-yard freestyle, she swam a 5:24.04.
Janae Sargent (So., Redding, Calif.) picked up first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.93.

Alex Bing* (Sr., Roseburg, Ore.) won her two events, swimming in a time of 1:09.99 in the 100-yard breaststroke and a time of 2:35.66 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Amber Chase (Jr., Tigard, Ore.) won the 100-yard freestyle event in a time of 57.70 and
Rachel Webster (Fr., Normandy Park, Wash.) won the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:54.45.

The Boxers outscored College of Idaho 138-123 and improve 4-3 on the season. Both of the women's relay teams finished in second place.

The men's side proved to be a much closer competition as the Boxers only beat College of Idaho 113-112.
Michael Hargitt* (Sr., Oregon City, Ore.) picked up three first place finishes for the men. He finished the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:36.15. In the 200-yard breaststroke he swam 2:23.83 and in the 100-yard backstroke he swam a 56.60.

Charles Morse (Fr., Forest Grove, Ore.) picked up two victories in the meet. He won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:28.07. He also won the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:02.06. Both of the men's relay teams finished in second place. The men improve to 1-5-1 on the season.

Next up, the Boxers will be on the road but back to Northwest Conference competition. They head to Willamette next Friday at 6 p.m. The Boxers will return home on Saturday to host Linfield at 11 a.m.
