Boxers Take Control Of Linfield In Swim Dual

FOREST GROVE – After the very first event of the morning, the Pacific University swim team took control and claimed victories on both the men's and women's side against Linfield in Northwest Conference action on Saturday morning at the Forest Grove Aquatic Center.

The women claimed a 137-65 win over the Wildcats with
Amanda Clark (Jr., Olympia, Wash.) leading the way like usual with three victories. She swam a 18.20.89 in the 1,650 freestyle for a first place finish. In her second event, the 100-yard freestyle, she swam a 55.30. In her final event, she took first place again in a time of 5:20.73 in the 500-yard freestyle.

Amber Chase (Jr., Tigard, Ore.) claimed a victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.16.
Katie Porter (Jr., McMinnville, Ore.) picked up two victories, swimming in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.38 and in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:00.21.
Rachel Webster (Fr., Normandy Park, Wash.) won her 400-yard individual medley event in a time of 4:48.17.
Kristine Valdez* (Sr., Poulsbo, Wash.) picked up a victory in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 56.19.
Alex Bing* (Sr., Roseburg, Ore.) won her event, the final women's individual event of the day, with a time of 1:08.91 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

On the men's side,
Carter Suzuki (Fr., Wailuku, Hawaii) stepped up and claimed two victories. He swam a 4:26.47 in the 400-yard individual medley and a 1:02.53 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Charles Morse (Fr., Forest Grove, Ore.) picked up two victories as well, winning the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 17:23.10. He also swam to first in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:11.05.
Michael Hargitt* (Sr., Oregon City, Ore.) won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 56.19.
Brandon Hand (Jr., Auburn, Wash.) picked up a victory in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.52.

The men beat the Wildcats 112-64. The women improve to 6-3 on the season and 3-3 in conference while the men improve to 2-6-1 on the season and pick up their first conference victory, 1-5-0. Next week the Boxers will be acknowledging their seniors and playing host to Lewis & Clark with the first event starting at 11 a.m.
