McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Marie Rewick (So., Honolulu, Hawaii) made her return to the Pacific starting lineup Friday night, helping lead the Boxers offensive in a three set loss to Linfield, 25-18, 25-21, 25-16, in Northwest Conference volleyball action at Ted Wilson Gymnasium.

Rewick, making her first start since an injury stunted her season last September, finished the night with seven kills and 10 digs.  Haley Bedell (Jr., Bothell, Wash.) also had seven kills while Hannah Smargiassi (Jr., Tualatin, Ore.) added five kills.

The performances, however, were not enough as the Boxers hit just .009 for the evening.  Linfield (6-6, 5-2 NWC) hit .198 as a team, paced by a .261 performance in the opening set.

Caiti Barrie and Jamie Talbo each had seven kills to lead the Wildcats, with Talbo also contributing a team-high 14 assists.  Victoria Thomson added six kills while three other Linfield players finished with five kills apiece.

Linfield held control for most of the first set, but wouldn't truly shake the Boxers until late.  The lead was no more than three points before Thompson's kill opened up a 20-16 lead and a block by Thompson and Barrie made it a 23-16 Linfield advantage.  A setting error and an attack error closed out the frame in favor of the home team.

Pacific had the early lead in the second set, only to watch Linfield come back to take a 6-4 lead on Kailana Ritte-Camara's service ace.  Pacific went on to win six of the next seven points and built back to a 10-7 lead Bedell's kill.  The Wildcats then used a six-point run to build a 17-14 advantage on Talbo's kill, but the Boxers came back to tie things at 20-20 on another Bedell kill.  Pacific was within 23-22 when the Wildcats won the final two rallies for the win.

The third set was tough going as the Boxers won just one point off their own serve.  After falling behind 8-2 to open the frame, the Boxers bounced back to come within 15-7 on a Rewick kill.  Linfield eventually put the match away with a four-point run that made it an 18-10 lead and proceeded to trade points until the end.

Pacific wraps up the weekend on the road, playing at Willamette on Saturday night.  Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
