Rewick Leads The Way Again In Loss To Bearcats

SALEM, Ore. – Marie Rewick (So., Honolulu, Hawaii) led Pacific for the second straight night Saturday, registering her first double-double of the season in a three-set loss to Willamette, 25-14, 25-22, 25-19, in Northwest Conference volleyball action at the Cone Field House.
 
Rewick led Pacific offensively with 13 kills and a 14 digs to complete the double-double to go along with an assist, a service ace and a block.  She paced a night that saw Pacific (5-11, 1-7 NWC) finish hitting .119 for the night.
 
Haley Bedell (Jr, Bothell, Wash.) added eight kills, Emily Farnham (Jr., University Place, Wash.) finished with 30 assists and Lia Zablan (So., Ewa Beach, Hawaii) had 17 digs.
 
Sarah Fincher paced Willamette (9-8, 4-4 NWC) with 13 kills.  Peyton Wall added 13 digs, Lindsey Compton has 26 assists and Taylor Gee added eight blocks.
 
Pacific jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first set, benefitting from two kills by Una Areta (So., Kent, Wash.) and a dump by Farnham.  The Bearcats rebounded to put together runs of three and five points, taking a 10-5 lead on Taylor Lum's kill.  The Willamette lead was 17-11 when the Bearcats put together another five-point run, paced by three Pacific attack errors, that all but sealed the 25-14 victory.
 
Willamette jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the second set on a Pacific attack error, but the Boxers' rebounded to tie things at 18-18 on a block by Bedell and Hannah Smargiassi (Jr., Tualatin, Ore.).  While keeping it close, Pacific was never able to take the lead.  The Boxers last tied it at 21-21 on Farnham's service ace before a pair of Willamette blocks and Gee's kill closed it out for the Bearcats.
 
Pacific held the lead throughout the first half of the third set, pulling ahead 13-10 on Areta's kill.  Willamette rebounded to tie it at 13-13.  The score would be tied two more times before the Bearcats took the lead for good on a block by Lindsey Compton and Gee at 16-15.  Pacific won just three more points the rest of the way.
