FOREST GROVE – Marie Rewick (So., Honolulu, Hawaii) and Hannah Herbert (Jr., Hillsboro, Ore.) both finished with double-doubles Friday night, but Pacific dropped a hard fought four set match with George Fox, 25-20, 30-28, 20-25, 25-20, in Northwest Conference volleyball action at the Stoller Center.

Rewick finished with a team-leading 15 kills to go along with 18 digs while Herbert seemed to be all over the floor, finishing with 11 kills to go along with a match-high 28 digs and two blocks.  The duo led a night where Pacific finished with a .109 hitting percentage and 102 digs, which was just short of the team record of 108 kills in a four-set match.

Haley Bedell (Jr., Bothell, Wash.) added 12 kills and eight digs while Una Areta (So., Kent, Wash.) finished with 10 kills and two blocks.

Erin Sprowls led two George Fox players with double-doubles, finishing with 16 kills and 20 digs.  Erin Campbell finished with 11 kills and 13 digs.  The Bruins finished the night hitting .153 to go along with 11 blocks, led by seven from Kylee Adderson.

George Fox (3-16, 2-7 NWC) opened the match with a 9-3 lead in the first set thanks in part to a five-point run that was buoyed by two Delaney Cruz kills.  The Boxers stayed the course and battled back, tying the frame at 15-15 on Rewick's kill.  Pacific never took the lead, though, as the Bruins won the next four rallies to go ahead 19-15 and would allow the Boxers just one more point off their own serve.

Pacific (5-16, 1-8 NWC) battled back from another deep second set deficit in an exciting second set.  The Bruins opened with an 8-2 lead on a pair of Adderson kills and a pair of Pacific attack errors.  The Boxers steadily drew back into the set and tied things at 21-21 on a block by Herbert and Hannah Smargiassi (Jr., Tualatin, Ore.).  It was tied at 23-23 when Campbell's kill took George Fox to set point, but Herbert came back with a kill to send it to extra points.  The teams proceeded to trade points before a pair of errors gave the set to the Bruins at 30-28.

The third set started close before and the Boxers trailed 9-8 before winning eight of the next nine rallies.    The run was fueled by two Bedell kills and four attack errors as a Herbert service ace built a 15-10 lead.  Pacific took the 20-14 lead on another attack error before the Bruins came back to within 22-19 on Payton Shrum's service ace.  One more attack error handed the set to the Boxers in the 25-20 win.

George Fox bolted out to a 9-2 lead in the fourth set on a run fueled by three kills by Sprouls.  The Bruins made it a 13-4 lead on Sprouls' fifth kill of the frame before the Boxers battled back to come within 16-15 on a pair of Bedell kills.  Pacific scored only more point off their own serve from that point as Sprouls had two more kills to take the win.

Pacific is on the road to finish the weekend, traveling to Portland on Saturday to take on Lewis & Clark.  George Fox will play at Linfield.
