th minute ended the match in the second overtime period as the Whitworth Pirates topped the Pacific Boxers 1-0 at the Whitworth Soccer Field in a Northwest Conference men's soccer tilt on Saturday.

Whitworth recorded 43 shots in the match and placed 14 on frame, while the Boxers mustered four shots on the day.

In a very active afternoon between the pipes, Thommasen (Fr., Des Moines, Wash.) was called to duty early as he turned away nine Whitworth shots in the opening period.
"Leyton was exceptional and the backline was just as good," said Pacific head coach
Eric Mild. "For us to come up here and be competitive, where we were in a position to take some points is something we can draw positives from."

Thommasen and the Boxers' defense became the sixth side this season to hold the Pirates below two goals, as Whitworth has outscored opponents 39-26 on the season.

Three Boxers combined for Pacific's four shots, with
Matt Kimball (Fr., Tigard, Ore.) recording two shots in the match.

Ian Farley (Sr., Spokane, Wash.) and
Jake Passas (So., Minden, Nevada) both finished the afternoon with a single shot.

Pacific travels to Walla Walla, Wash., for a noon match-up with Whitman on Sunday as the Boxers look for revenge on a 1-0 loss earlier in the season.
