FOREST GROVE – One of the top cornerbacks and punt return specialists in Division III and an up-and-coming freshman cross country runner have been selected as the October Boxer Club Student-Athletes of the Month.

Football player Brandon Harms (Sr., Canby, Ore.) and freshman women's harrier Stephenie Spencer (Fr., Bothell, Wash.) were selected for the monthly honor by a vote of the Boxer Club Board of Directors.

Harms established himself in October as one of the top cornerbacks and punt return specialists in the nation at the Division III level.  He helped the Boxers finish with a 4-0 month with 26 tackles and 13 pass breakups, which led the NWC and ranked in the top-five in Division III.  On special teams, Harms returned eight punts for 171 yards.  His average of 21.4 yards per punt led the NWC and was among the top five in Division III.  His top performance came at George Fox on Oct. 25, where Harms finished with six tackles and returned three punts for 105 yards, including a season-long 70-yarder.

In addition to his work on the field, Harms was selected for the second straight year to the Capital One/CoSIDA Division III Academic All-District VIII Football Team.  Harms maintains a 3.76 cumulative grade point average as a double major in physics and mathematics.

Spencer continued a solid freshman cross country season, performing well for the Boxers in the team's two races in October.  She finished 47th at the Willamette Charles Bowles Invitational on Oct. 4.  Her time of 19:08.3 over 5,000 meters ranks her No. 8 on the Boxers' all-time list for 5,000 meters.  Later in the month, Spencer finished 29th at the Lewis & Clark Invitational on Oct. 18 with a time of 24:19.10.
