TACOMA, Wash. – A sixth minute strike from Amalia Acorda-Fey was all Puget Sound needed on Friday morning as the Loggers topped Pacific 3-0 in Northwest Conference women's soccer action.
An early corner kick for the Loggers gave Puget Sound multiple chances in the opening three minutes, but the net was not threatened as shots were blocked or sent wide.
Pacific goalkeeper Kristina Morris (So., Molalla, Ore.) was called into action in the fourth minute as she stopped a shot from Annie Jonsson before Acorda-Fey was able to sneak a shot by in the sixth minute of the match.
The Boxers saw a chance turned away by the Loggers' defense in the 50th minute when Sydney Virgen's (Fr., Richland, Wash.) shot was deflected over the end line, resulting in a Pacific corner.
Unable to capitalize on the 51st minute corner kick, Pacific saw Puget Sound net two goals in quick succession. Puget Sound's second goal came in the 57th minute on a header from Emma Donckels, while Jacquelyn Anderson scored the third in the 61st minute.
Morris posted six saves in the match for the Boxers.
The Boxers head south to Salem, Ore., on Saturday for an 11 a.m. scheduled kickoff against the Willamette Bearcats.
