FOREST GROVE, Ore. – On a night where seniors were honored for their four-year careers with the Pacific men's soccer program, it was freshman Matt Kimball who stole the spotlight with a volleyed overtime goal to net the Boxers a 1-0 win over George Fox.

The evening got underway at Hanson Stadium with the acknowledgement of seniors Babeck Ebadpour (Sr., Fairbanks, Alaska), Ian Farley (Sr., Spokane, Wash.), Garrick Knowles (Sr., Roseburg, Ore.) and Lucas Sconyers (Sr., Seattle, Wash.) for their contributions to the Pacific men's soccer program during their collegiate careers.

Following the pregame ceremonies, the two sides failed to spark much offensive movement as George Fox and Pacific combined for three shots in the opening 45 minutes of the match.

Pacific went on the attack early in the second period as Esteban Cruz (Fr., Dayton, Ore.) sent a header high in the 55th minute of play. The Boxers again looked toward goal in the 64th as Jake Passas (So., Minden, Nev.) watched George Fox goalkeeper Ricardo Sotelo turn his shot away.

The Boxers continued to pressure toward the goal, recording seven shots in the second period, but were unable to beat the Bruins' keeper as a late opportunity by Passas was sent wide of goal and out of reach of a charging Farley.

After a slow opening five minutes of overtime, George Fox took the first shot of the period as Joab Logan sent a header wide of goal, which was soon followed on the other end of the field by a misplaced shot by Knowles.

A physical match throughout the first 90 and into overtime, kept Pacific on its offensive end after a foul by the Bruins outside the 18-yard box.

With attackers filling the penalty area, Cameron Laired (Fr., Monroe, Wash.) sent a cross toward Jaren Otani (Fr.,Wailuku, Hawaii) who redirected the pass with a backheel flick. The flick from Otani fell to the swinging leg of Kimball (Fr., Tigard, Ore.), who sent his shot off the volley into the top shelf of the net to end the match.

Kimball's strike was his third of the season, all of which have been game winning goals.

Pacific goalkeeper Leyton Thommasen (Fr., Des Moines, Wash.) recorded one save as he picked up the fifth clean sheet of his career.
