Boxers Sweep Individual Freestyle Events In Losing Effort

PARKLAND, Wash. – The Pacific men's and women's swimming team snagged individual victories in all ten individual freestyle events at Pacific Lutheran, but the men dropped the dual meet 129-74 and the women fell 127-78 in Northwest Conference swim action.
 
Amanda Clark (Sr., Olympia, Wash.) kicked off the Boxers' freestyle success in the 1,000-yard freestyle as she delivered one of the top-five fastest times in school history with a 10:55.13 victory. Soon after Clark's victory, Charles Morse (So., Forest Grove, Ore.) did his best to match Clark on the men's side with a first place victory and a Pacific top-ten time of 10:23.53.
 
Clark was not finished winning races when she hit the pool for the 200-yard freestyle and delivered a top-ten performance with her 1:59.00 performance.
 
Raymond Miller (Fr., Portland, Ore.) picked up full points for the Boxers in the men's 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.35 for the victory in the sixth event of the day.
 
Pacific continued to control top points in the freestyle events when Katie Porter (Sr., McMinnville, Ore.) out touched Kiana Sullenberger for a victory in the 50-yard freestyle. Jack Lloyd (Jr., Portland, Ore.) delivered a top-five Pacific performance on the men's side as his 21.88-second victory outdid Brian Ruggles of Pacific Lutheran by nearly a full second.
 
Rachel Webster (So., Normandy Park, Wash.) broke-up the run of freestyle victories for Pacific when she won the 400-yard individual medley by just short of a full second. Webster's victory was the only victory for Pacific in a non-freestyle race.
 
Porter returned to the pool in the 100-yard freestyle, where she posted a time of 54.92. Porter's performance in the 100-yard freestyle is one of the top-ten fastest times in school history.
 
Lloyd continued to impress early in the 2014-5 season in the 100-yard freestyle as he posted a Pacific all-time top-five time of 47.85 to win the event.
 
Clark wrapped up the individual victories for the women with a 5:21.94 time in the 500-yard freestyle, while Morse won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:03.03.
 
The Boxers will next swim against Whitworth in the first home dual meet of the season, set for a 6 p.m. start on Friday.
