PACIFIC NEWS & NOTES
JONESING FOR SCORING:
When Abby Jones (Jr., Haines, Alaska) provides that scoring spark off the bench, the Boxers are in better position to win.  The junior transfer provided the surge in Pacific's balanced scoring output in Tuesday's victory over Willamette.  Jones scored in 13 points on a perfect 5 of 5 from the field and 3 of 3 from the free throw line.  She also shared the team lead with seven rebounds to go along with two assists and a steal. The 13 points was her second best scoring performance of the season.  Jones is one of the Boxers' leader soff the bench and enters the week ranked fifth for the Boxers with her average of 6.4 points per game.  She is hitting 55.3 percent of her shots from the field to lead the Boxers, but falls below the minimum of three shots made per game to qualify for the NWC statistics.

CURL TO THE BASKET: Over the last two weeks, Sarah Curl (Fr., Portland, Ore.) has come up with some solid scoring performances to help the Boxers win.  Last Tuesday was no different as she scored 11 points on 5 of 12 from the field to help the Boxers beat Willamette.    She added to that total four rebounds and three steals.  Curl enters the week ranked third for the Boxers in scoring, averaging 9.5 points per game.  In the last four games, Curl has come up with three double-digit scoring performances, led by a 25-point night in the win over Linfield on Jan. 25.

PLENTY OF COOKS IN THE KITCHEN: Olivia Cook (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.) continues to pace the Boxers on both ends of the floor.  Cook provided a balanced effort on both sides of the floor in Tuesday's victory over Willamette, scoring 10 points and shared the team lead with Abby Jones with seven rebounds.  She went 4 of 9 from the field and also had two assists and two steals.  Cook continues to lead the Boxers with averages of 12.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game and ranks seventh in the NWC in rebounding.  She is also one of the best free throw shooters in the NWC, ranking fifth at 81.5 percent.

DON'T SEND THIS TEAM TO THE LINE: Pacific continues to be one of the tops teams both in the NWC and NCAA Division III in free throw shooting.  The Boxers enter the week with a .720 free throw percentage, ranking third in the league and 45th among Division III squads.  The Boxers have hit above 70 percent from the line in each of their last four games and have been perfect from the stripe twice this season.  Individually, Olivia Mayorga-Overtone (Jr., Oakland, Calif.) ranks third in the NWC with at 83.3 percent.  Olivia Cook ranks fifth at 81.5 percent.  Alex Pfefferle (Sr., Twin Falls, Idaho) leads the program at 90.9 percent and Sarah Curl is shooting 88.9 percent, but neither meet the NWC minimum of two free throws made per game to rank in the conference statistics.

RECORD PERFECTION: Pacific could not have been better from the free throw line in their game against Whitman on Jan. 4.  The Boxers went a perfect 13 of 13 from the free throw line, setting a new single game record.  The effort surpass the previous mark of .914 (31-34) against George Fox during the 1990-91 season.  The Boxers repeated the perfect performance against Lewis & Clark on Jan. 17, going 12 for 12 from the charity stripe.
