Box Score

NEWBERG, Ore. – Much like it did in the first two of the series, it all came down to one inning Monday as George Fox scored three runs in the second inning to take a 3-0 win over Pacific and earned a sweep of their Northwest Conference baseball series at Morse Field.

Pacific starter Kyle Treadway (Jr., Phoenix, Ore.) and Bruins' starter Tom Zarosinski both went the distance in what proved to be a great pitcher's duel.  Zarosinski allowed just two hits for the Boxers, both off the bat of Donnie Bradley (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.), and struck out 12 while Treadway allowed three runs, two earned, on eight hits with four strikeouts.

After Bradley's single to right field went for naught in the first inning, George Fox got all of the offense they needed in the bottom of the second.  Danny Cliffo led off with a single, stole second, advanced to third on Zach Rapacz's single down the right field line and scored on Clay Moot's single to center field.  Rapacz scored the second run on an error while Matt scored on Matthew Zell's sacrifice.

Pacific would not get another baserunner until the sixth when Bradley singled up the middle with two outs.  The Boxers also saw the leadoff hitters reach base in the eighth and ninth, but neither scored as the Boxers left five runners on base.

Rapacz led George Fox's eight hit day by going 4 for 4.  Danny Clifford went 2 for 4.

Pacific returns home to Chuck Bafaro Stadium this weekend for a three-game series against Lewis & Clark.  Saturday's doubleheader will begin at noon while Sunday's single game begins at 1 p.m.
