EUGENE, Ore. – Budweiser Hawkins (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev.) and Tyler Shipley (So., Forest Grove, Ore.) earned the opportunity to represent Pacific on one of the world's top track and field stages Saturday, competing in the Oregon Preview at Hayward Field.

Hawkins finished second in an 11-man field in the men's long jump, putting together a season best of 22 feet, 7 inches.  He earned the top mark in his second of four jumps and was just off of the 22 feet, 9 inches of winner Nathaniel van Tuinen of Western Washington.  The performance maintains Hawkins with the sixth best mark among NCAA Division III athletes.

Shipley, meanwhile, honed his racing form among a Division I laden field in the men's 3,000 meters.  Shipley finished 14th in the race with a time of 8:31.42 and was the first runner from a non-Division I school or open athlete to cross the line in the 43-man field.
