Game 2 TACOMA, Wash. – The Pacific softball team has been on an absolute tear and Puget Sound did little to slow them down as the Boxers swept a Northwest Conference softball doubleheader from the Loggers Tuesday at Logger Field.
In the opener,
Kylee Oshiro's (Jr., Aiea, Hawaii) two-run homer keyed a three-run fifth inning that propelled the Boxers to a 5-1 win in the opener. In the nightcap, the Boxers' three-run first was all they needed for the 6-1 win.
Oshiro continued her hot streak, finishing with three hits, three RBIs and one home run.
Becca Moen (Sr., Gresham, Ore.) had four hits, one RBI and two runs while
Ashley Mitchell (So., Redmond, Wash.) had three hits, three RBIs and one run.
Sara Aasness (Sr., Kirkland, Wash.) and
Maddie Collura (Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) each had a great day pitching a full game. After winning the Northwest Conference Softball Pitching Student-Athlete of the Week, Aasness allowed only five hits and one earned run. In the nightcap, Collura gave up six hits and one unearned run.
Pacific finished the night with a 20-9 record and a 15-8 NWC record. The two wins gave the Boxers a one game lead over Whitworth for second place in the NWC. The Logger fell to 2-28 overall, 1-23 NWC.
The contests were moved to Tacoma after rain forced the series postponement on Saturday. As the games were to be played in Forest Grove, Pacific played as the home team.
