Kaitlyn Lomartire (Fr., Portland, Ore.) picked up her 10th singles victory of the season Sunday, leading Pacific in a 6-3 loss to Willamette in Northwest Conference women's tennis action at the Holce Tennis Courts.
Lomartire went three sets for the third time this season, bouncing back from a second set loss for the 6-2, 6-7, 1-0 (10-3) victory over Sabrina Gutierrez in the No. 1 flight. With the win, Lomartire is now 10-4 on the season in singles competition.
The Boxers also got a win in the No. 5 flight when
Danielle Hunter (Sr., La Quinta, Calif.) beat Taylor Coggeshall 7-6 (9-7), 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).
Esbeida Ramos (So., Boise, Idaho) got a win over Olina Cavedoni in the No. 6 flight after Cavedoni retired.
In the No.1 flight doubles, the team of
Kaitlyn Lomartire (Fr., Portland, Ore.) and
Kelsey Lack (Sr., Grants Pass, Ore.) lost 8-4 to Gutierrez and Denise Poltavski.
In the No.2 flight,
Carlee Rhodaback (So., Albany, Ore.) and
Danielle Wicks (So., Phoenic, Ariz.) lost to the team of Nebraska Lucas and Alicia Sohn in another 8-4 contest. In the No. 3 flight,
Kelly Flores (Fr., Ewa Beach, Hawaii) and Ramos (So., Boise, Idaho) lost 8-1 to the team of Cavedoni and Coggeshall.
In the No. 2 flight, Rhodaback lost 6-1, 6-0 to Poltavski. Then Wick took a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Sohn in the No. 3 flight. In the No. 4 flight, Lack lost a tough 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-4) match to Lucas.
With the loss, the Boxers fall to 2-12, 0-10 NWC. The Bearcats are now 4-7, 3-7 NWC, seventh place in the conference.
The Pacific women's tennis team will next be hosting the Puget Sound Loggers on Friday at 3p.m.
