Forest Grove – Kaitlyn Lomartire (Fr., Portland, Ore.) had another fantastic night in what has been an absolutely stellar freshman campaign. She picked up a couple of team points as the Boxers dropped a 7-2 loss to Northwest Conference opponent Puget Sound Friday afternoon.

In the No. 1 flight of doubles, Lomartire and Kelsey Lack (Sr., Grants Pass, Ore.) beat the team of Marissa Friedman and Logan Thompson 8-4.

"Great win from Kaitlyn and Kelsey at the first doubles tonight," Assistant Coach Justin Carrier said. "They went up and stayed up, looking like a team that has competed together for years."

Then in the No. 1 flight of singles, Lomartire refused to go down against Thompson, winning in a tough 1-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-7) match. "Slow start for Kaitlyn in singles," Carrier said. "But she managed to roll to a 6-1 second set and maintained an aggressive game against a maddeningly fast and consistent opponent to win the third set super tiebreak."

On the season, Lomartire has an 11-4 record in the singles, which is the best on the team.

The other Boxers did not fair as well against a tough Loggers squad that is ranked fifth in the conference in win percentage. In the No. 3 flight, Esbeida Ramos (Fr.., Nampa, Idaho) and Kelly Flores (Fr., Ewa Beach, Hawaii) lost to the team of Allison Embernate and Sarah Nielson 8-2.

In the No. 5 flight, Danielle Hunter (Sr., La Quinta, Calif.) lost to Embernate 6-1, 6-0. And in the No. 6 flight, Flores lost to Nielsen 6-4, 6-0.

With the loss, the Boxers fall to 2-13, 0-11 NWC on the season, while the Loggers stand at 7-5, 6-5.
