Sapp, Teves Lead Boxers In Final NWC Meet Tuneup
Meet ResultsPORTLAND, Ore. – Kris Sapp (Fr., Sacramento, Calif.) and Michael Teves (Fr., Makawao, Hawaii) both picked up individual event victories Saturday, leading the Pacific track and field teams in their last tune-up prior to next week's Northwest Conference Championships at the Lewis & Clark Open, held at Eldon Fix Track.
Sapp won his signature event, the men's 100 meters, establishing a season best time with 11.11 seconds. He will enter the NWC Championships with the ninth best time in the league.
Teves, meanwhile, prevailed through blustery conditions to win the men's pole vault with a clearance of 13 feet, 10.75 inches. While Teves finished six inches ahead of the second place competitor,
Aaron Koford (Sr., Wilsonville, Ore.) placed third in the event and qualified for the NWC Championships with his clearance of 12 feet, 10.75 inches.
Jesse Bethke (Sr., Cave Junction, Ore.) and Travis George (Sr., Grants Pass, Ore.) led a quartet of Pacific throwers with top-three finishes. Britta LaVoie (So., Spokane, Wash.) just missed setting a school record in the pole vault, placing third in the event with her clearance of 11 feet, 1 inch. Teammate Emily Geddes (Fr., Bend, Ore.) placed fourth, posting a two-inch season best at 9 feet, 7.25 inches, to move into sole possession of No. 3 on Pacific's all-time list.
