SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – An eight-kill night by Haley Bedell (Jr., Bothell, Wash.) was not enough to hold off three seven-kill performances by UC Santa Ctuz Friday night as Pacific opened their three-match Bay Area swing with a three-set loss to the Banana Slugs, 25-15, 25-13, 25-21, in volleyball action at the West Field House.

Bedell finished with eight kills and a .129 hitting percentage on a flat hitting night for the Boxers, who finished the evening hitting .067 as a team.  The Boxers hit .238 in the third set with 13 kills, but the performance wasn't enough to prevent the sweep.

Una Areta (So., Kent, Wash.) added six kills.  Jamie Steach (So., Pasco, Wash.) finished with 13 assists while Lia Zablan (So., Ewa Beach, Hawaii) had 12 digs.

Kim Rabii, Elena Echeverria and Kellie Graves were the lucky sevens for UC Santa Cruz, leading the Slugs with seven kills apiece.  Sandra Gutierrez finished with six kills.  The Slugs finished with a .208 hitting percentage.
