Andrew Tanaka (Fr., Pearl City, Hawaii) broke open a scoreless tie early in the second half, but Pacific Lutheran roared back to score three goals in the final 30 minutes to take a 3-1 victory from the Boxers Sunday in Northwest Conference men's soccer action at East Field.

Tanaka scored his first goal of the season in the 51st minute, connecting from 10 yards out off of an assist by
Elan Yogi (So., Mililani, Hawaii). The goal came on the Boxers' first shot of the second half.

But the Lutes, who outshot the Boxers 24-14 on the afternoon, earned a free goal in the 63rd minute when Rigoberto Loreto scored on a penalty kick. PLU then left it to Jordan Downing to close the deal. He scored the winning goal in the 82nd minute, connecting from 10 yards out off of an assist from Nate Popp. Downing added an insurance goal in the 85th minute, scoring his fifth of the season off of an assist by Justin Manao.

Pacific Lutheran also held a 12-4 advantage in corner kicks. Mike Arguello earned the win in goal, making six saves.Â
Leyton Thommasen (Fr., Des Moines, Wash.) dropped to 3-4-0 on the season, making five saves.

With the loss, Pacific dropped to 3-4-0, 0-2-0 NWC. Pacific Lutheran improved to 5-3-0, 2-0-0 NWC.
