Box ScoreKENT, Wash. – Pacific opened up the 2015 men's tennis season with a solid team effort Friday, winning two of three singles and all but one singles flight in a 7-2 warp speed victory over Division II Hawaii Hilo at the Boeing Tennis Center.

The Boxers (1-0) opened the match by putting a mind meld on the Vulcans in two of three doubles matches. The No. 2 tandem of
Brennan Faith (So., Redondo Beach, Calif.) and
Grayson Frazier (Sr., La Canada, Calif.) opened with an 8-2 win over Daniel Tada and Brandon Kang while
Clark Wininger (So., San Francisco, Calif.) and
Oscar Wight (Fr., Adelaide, Australia) scored an 8-4 win over Thomas Dols and Stefan Coney at No. 3.

Kainoa Rosa and Kallen Mizguchi scored the Vulcans' lone win in singles, scoring an 8-4 victory over
Giancarlo Battaglia (Sr., Thousand Oaks, Calif.) and
Reuben Mulhern (So., Boise, Idaho).

In singles, Battaglia, the team captain, logged a 6-4, 6-4 decision over Rosa. Faith beamed past Coney at No. 2, 6-3, 6-3 and Fraizer gave the Vulcans' Tada the death grip in three sets at No. 3, 2-6, 6-3, 10-8.Â
Josh Bernstein (So., Novato, Calif.) turned Nicholas Franco into a red shirt with a 6-2, 6-3 defeat at No. 5 and Wininger teleported past Dols 6-0, 6-2.

Kang provided Hilo their only singles win, going three sets to beat Wight 1-6, 6-1, 10-8.

After the early start, Pacific will now head back to the practice courts before opening Northwest Conference play in three weeks. The Boxers open NWC play on Sat., Feb. 21, hosting Whitworth at 1 p.m.
