Box ScoreFOREST GROVE – Lewis & Clark had every answer for Pacific's offense Friday night, using massive runs and solid defense to down the Boxers 60-36 in Northwest Conference men's basketball action at the Stoller Center.

The Pioneers opened the game with a 12-0 run and never let up despite a late first half run that brought the Boxers within three points at halftime. After opening up the second half by building back to a 10-point lead, Lewis & Clark closed the game by allowing the Boxers just one made field goal in the final 14 minutes.

Pacific (6-6, 1-2 NWC) finished the night shooting 28.9 percent from the field (13-45) and 7 of 9 from the free throw line. Devon Pouncey (Jr., Vallejo, Calif.) came of the bench to lead the Boxers with eight points.Â
Riley Grandinetti (Sr., Murray, Utah) added six points while
Mitch Wettig (Sr., Bend, Ore.) pulled down nine rebounds.

Cory Coombe paced Lewis & Clark (6-6, 1-2 NWC) with 18 points, connecting on 7 of 11 from the field and 4 of 7 from three-point range. Carl Appleton finished with 10 points as the Pioneers shot 43.6 percent from the field (24-55) and 6 of 8 from the charity stripe while out-rebounding the Boxers 40-24.

Lewis & Clark bolted out of the fate to take a 12-0 lead six minutes into the game, paced by four early points by Jason Luhnow.Â
Marc Eppinger (Jr., Camas, Wash.) broke the Boxers' scoreless skid at the 13:32 mark, but the Boxers would play catch-up the rest of the period. Cannen Roberson's lay-in gave the Pioneers a 21-6 lead with 10:39 go. The double-digit lead would prevail until the Boxers closed the half on a 5-0 run, with
Coby Proctor's (Sr., Sublimity, Ore.) three-pointer bringing Pacific within 30-24 at halftime.

After Bradley Carter extended the L&C lead to 34-24 to open the second half, Pacific rallied to come back within six when Grandinetti's four-point play made it a 36-30 game. Grandinetti's jump with 14:47 left kept it a seven-point game, but Pacific would score just four more points the rest of the way. Serg Ovchinnikov's lay-up built the Pioneers' lead to 54-34 with 5:33 left en route to the 24-point advantage to end the game.
